The place

Bookable Rytitupa cabin at the Rytivaaran kruununmetsätorppa (Rytivaara state-forest croft), Syöte National Park. Log building with 8 bed spaces, which served for 10 years as an open shelter before being relocated and converted into a vuokratupa (rental cabin) in 2013. Upper yard with a woodshed behind the cabin and a dry toilet; lower yard with a sauna near a well, a woodshed for the sauna behind the barn, and an outdoor fireplace shared with all hikers. Paimenviikot site — reserved for shepherds from mid-June to mid-August. Access from Iso-Syöte via road 858, about 18 km from Syötekylä via Karsikkoperäntie to the Ukonvaara car park, then 4 km on foot. Whole-cabin booking for private use.
