The place

Lighthouse located at Kvalneset, at the northwest tip of the bird island of Runde (Herøy municipality, Møre og Romsdal, Norway). Lit in 1767, the sixth lighthouse in Norway after Lindesnes and the first north of Stad. Now automated and heritage-protected; the main building is used as a self-service cabin by Ålesund og Sunnmøre Turistforening (DNT Sunnmøre). 24 bunks, self-service provisions store, electric cooking equipment, and a waffle iron. Locked with a DNT key. 3.6 km approach walk with 260 m of elevation gain from the Goksøyra car park. On site: unique birdlife, ocean views with big waves, wind, and sun.
