Hármashatár-hegy Tourist House: A Unique Historic Treasure in the Heart of Budapest The Hármashatár-hegy Tourist House is Budapest's only tourist house in the Buda Hills, located in Budapest's 3rd district. The building was originally converted from a pilot's home in 2016, and today holds a unique historical significance. Technical Features Altitude: 335 metres. Structure: A distinctive ovoid-shaped structure with a stainless steel cladding. Capacity: 50 people, spread across four floors. Comfort: Pine furniture, triple-glazed heat-insulated windows filled with argon and krypton gas. Technological and Environmental Innovations Energy awareness: Solar panels and a heat-pump system, with a snow-melting system. Eco-friendly solutions: Use of local timber, lightweight yet strong construction. Environmental protection: Modern wastewater treatment systems and heating solutions. Working With the Environment The design and construction of the tourist house aimed to blend harmoniously into the demanding alpine environment, so as to withstand strong winds and extreme temperatures. Costs and Funding Cost: 7.5 million euros. Funding: Made possible with support from the Hungarian Alpine and Sport Climbing Federation and various public and private partners.
