The place
Selbstversorgerhütte (self-catering hut) below the summit of the Roßbrand (1770 m), regarded as the emblematic mountain of the people of Radstadt (Pongau, Salzburg, Austria). Exceptional summit panorama over more than 150 alpine peaks — from the Dachstein via the Bischofsmütze, the Tennen and Hagen ranges, the Hochkönig, the Hohe Tauern (Großglockner, Großvenediger) all the way to the Radstadt and Schladming Tauern. Access via various routes from Radstadt, Filzmoos, Altenmarkt, Eben and Mandling; by car via the Roßbrandstraße to the end-of-road car park (barrier), then a 1 km walk (10 minutes). Facilities: two 4-bed rooms, one 2-bed room, plus a 10-person mattress dormitory with bunk beds. Showers in the basement, separate washrooms. Equipped kitchen (gas and wood), tiled stove in the dining room, outdoor grill, cool storeroom.

By car to the Roßbrandstraße car park, then a 1 km walk.
