Ropi autiotupa

The place

Free-access cabin (autiotupa) managed by Metsähallitus in the Käsivarren erämaa, Finland's second-largest wilderness area, near Ropitunturi (945 m, the most prominent summit in the area), in the northwest of Finnish Lapland (municipality of Enontekiö). A sacred stone (seitakivi) marks the cultural significance of the site for Sami heritage east of Ropi. Classified as a secondary shelter (toissijaisia) in the Käsivarsi sector, along with Hirvasvuopio, Jogasjärvi and Porojärvi; floor recently renovated in April.
