Rönnskäret
The place
Metsähallitus nature station set up in the former maritime pilot station on the island of Fäliskäret, the largest in the Rönnskär archipelago, about 40 km west of Vaasa (municipality of Maalahti), within the Kvarken Archipelago World Heritage Site (Merenkurkku). Overnight capacity of about ten people in the main building plus eight more in the renovated former dock, with a sauna and exhibition space. Home to Finland's oldest preserved wooden daymark (1784). Bookings open to naturalist clubs, diving associations, and educational groups. Guided nature-interpretation activities, birdwatching (black guillemots, Arctic terns, razorbills). Access restrictions during the summer nesting season.
