The place

Standard six-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in Mount Richmond Forest Park, Pelorus River valley, Marlborough region (South Island, New Zealand), at 227 metres elevation. Rates until 30 June 2026: NZD 10/night adult, NZD 5 youth (5-17 years), free under 5. No booking required, payment by Standard Hut Ticket deposited in the honesty box or by annual Backcountry Hut Pass. Connections: 4 h 30 to Browning Hut, 4 h to Middy Creek Hut. Check road conditions with the Marlborough District Council before departure (recent bad weather having damaged several access routes in the Sounds).
