The place

Basic hut with 2 bunks in the Kelly Range — Styx River area, Hokitika district on the West Coast, at 633 m. On a route no longer maintained by the DOC; sporadic maintenance by the Permolat association (NZ), which publishes route notes. Free. Backcountry site for self-sufficient trampers — check the route on the Remote Huts website before departure.
