Rockslide Hut

The place

A basic four-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in Ruahine Forest Park, Hawke's Bay region (North Island, New Zealand), near Apias Stream in a sheltered beech-forest area. Original building constructed in 1960, renovated in 1990. Water from the stream, no other facilities. Free access, no booking required. No DOC-marked track: self-reliant navigation with map, compass and GPS is mandatory. Watercourse crossings should be assessed; do not cross in flood.
