The place

Metsähallitus vuokratupa in the demanding Hammastunturi wilderness area along the Ivalojoki river (Inari, northern Lapland). Sámi name Ryettikuoškâ. Large log building known as "Ritakosken Kultala" on the north bank of the Ivalojoki, about 3 km downstream from the mouth of the Sotajoki, built in the early 20th century. Sleeps 9. Hearth/fireplace for heating, gas stove. Outdoor toilet, shed, storage space, locked maintenance building. No dedicated sauna, no water, no indoor toilets. Fully rented for private use until 2027, after which Metsähallitus will switch to per-bunk booking. Site inaccessible during spring thaw — navigation essential. Book via Eräluvat.fi.
