The place
Rifugio Valle Fischia in the Ernici mountains, in the Sora/Alvito area (province of Frosinone, Lazio, Italy), at an altitude of 1230 m, on the ridgeline of the Ciociaria. A CAI refuge within the heritage landscape of the Ciociaria (whose name comes from "cioce", traditional sandals), close to the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park (PNALM), historic habitat of the Marsican brown bear (Ursus arctos marsicanus, 50-60 individuals). Apennine beech forests.
