Rifugio Portia
The place
Refuge at 1328 m at the Colle della Portia, on the boundary of the municipalities of Viù and Val della Torre (Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, Italy), at the pass linking the Val Casternone with the Val di Viù (Valli di Lanzo). Always open and unmanned. Spring water 30 m away (can freeze in winter). Built in 1993 by converting an old rest house dating back to 1870, built by Andrea Rigoletti. Every year, on the last Sunday of June, the anniversary of its inauguration is celebrated with a meal of alpine specialities. Access in summer and winter from the Colle del Lys (1311 m) via a farm track and trail, T difficulty, in 1 hour; alternative route from Mulino di Punta (hamlet of Val della Torre, 547 m) via trail in 2 hours.
