Rifugio Mulino Calzetta
The place
Former mill located in Pignone, in the hinterland of the Cinque Terre (province of La Spezia, Liguria), at 214 m altitude. The historic mill was donated to the Montemarcello-Magra Regional Nature Park, which converted it into a refuge inaugurated in 2009. The building, of great historical interest, had previously been used by the CAI as a hikers' refuge, but the floods of October 2011 left it unusable. Since 2022, the municipality of Pignone has taken over the Mulino Calzetta to make it accessible again to residents and tourists, thanks to European funding. About 3 minutes from the center of Pignone, following the signposts. A stage on the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre and the trails of the Ligurian maritime hinterland, amid terraced vineyards and Mediterranean scrubland.
