Rifugio Monte Sernio

The place

Unstaffed refuge of the CAI Tolmezzo section at 1,419 m on the slopes of Monte Sernio in the upper Ambruseit valley (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy). Access from Stavoli Chiampeis di Lovea via trail 416 in about 1 h 40, with no notable difficulty. Capacity of 10-12 places on a wooden platform upstairs. Basic cooking stove (replacing the old fireplace), two large rooms on the ground floor with tables, sleeping area upstairs. Signposted outdoor toilets. Kitchen equipment, firewood and cutting tools, water fountain at the entrance, outdoor tables and grill. No full year-round opening. New Year's Eve: reserved for members of the Tolmezzo section following past incidents.
