The place

Alpine refuge in Etna Park (a UNESCO site) located at 1767 m on the volcano's northern slope, at the heart of a birch and Corsican pine forest south of Piano Provenzana. Built around 1950 by the Sicilian Region and later transferred to the Province of Catania, it is now managed by CAI Linguaglossa. Water tank, restrooms, fireplace, kitchen, minimal furnishings, and two small upstairs rooms offering eight beds. Located east of Monte Corvo near the Canalone delle Quarantore, 300 m off trail 724 to the west (Sentiero Italia, Etna variant). A historic gathering place for the great winter meeting of Etna enthusiasts known as "Vineve." Access from Piano Provenzana (1700 m) in about 30 minutes over 130 m of elevation gain.
