Don Giovanni Gnifetti Hut: Between Glaciers and History The Don Giovanni Gnifetti Hut is a spacious refuge perched at the upper end of a rocky spur, between the majestic Lysgletscher and Garstelet glaciers. This exceptional lodge pays tribute to Don Giovanni Gnifetti, an eminent explorer and illustrator of the southern face of the Monte Rosa massif. Madonna dei Ghiacciai Chapel: A Place of Reflection Right next to the hut stands the Madonna dei Ghiacciai chapel, the highest in the Alps. A unique place of reflection, it hosts the Festa della Madonna dei Ghiacciai, a solemn ceremony held every August 5th at 12:30 pm in memory of the victims of Monte Rosa.
