Rifugio Fondomonfracchio
The place
Alpine refuge of CAI Vigezzo, set at 1077 m on the Alpe Fondomonfracchio, in the Val Vigezzo (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont). The refuge was inaugurated in July 2017 together with the "Tecc dal Bocc" trail, in a joint inauguration at the Bagni di Craveggia. A typical approach from the Piana di Vigezzo (1725 m), with about 375 m of ascent and 1000 m of descent, in around 3 hours of walking. Booking to be made via the CAI Vigezzo online calendar. Set in the high Ossola valleys near the Swiss border, on the old transhumance routes toward the Bagni di Craveggia and Switzerland via the Bocchetta di Sant'Antonio. A good base for the cross-border Vigezzo - Verzasca traverse.
