The place

Staffed refuge at 2060 m on the Alpe di Fanes above San Vigilio di Marebbe (Val Badia, South Tyrol, Italy), at the heart of the Dolomites in the legendary kingdom of Fanes within the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. Founded in 1928, keeping its original atmosphere with photographs, mementos, stories and unusual objects evoking its Ladin origins. Cosy rooms for 1 to 5 people (66 beds in total, including double rooms with or without private bathroom) and an 11-bed dormitory with shared bathroom. Access on foot from La Valle, San Leonardo in Badia, San Cassiano and Cortina d'Ampezzo; in winter by ski, on foot, on snowshoes or by piste groomer from Pederü (6 km); in summer, a jeep shuttle service for overnight guests.
