The place
Rifugio Faito in the Ernici mountains, Frosinone/Anagni area (Lazio, Italy), at 1,272 m elevation, in the central Apennine chain. Part of the continuous Ernici/Simbruini cluster (batches 241+244+245+247). A CAI refuge in the Ciociaria, its name derived from "faito" (beech forest in central Italian dialect). An area of Apennine beech forest and karstic limestone pastures, heritage of the Cistercians (Casamari Abbey, founded 1035, one of the oldest Gothic cloisters in Italy).
