The place

Unstaffed alpine hut at 1,324 m at Alpe San Giacomo, in the commune of Villadossola (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola). Stone building with a slate roof, built in 1930 and inaugurated on 31 July 1932. Twelve beds, two main rooms (kitchen and dining room) plus a wooden loft. Equipped with a stove, a fireplace, a sink and kitchen utensils. Water available nearby in summer, wood heating. Owned by the CAI Villadossola section since 1994. Always open, keys available at the CAI office in Villadossola. Panoramic position between Valle Ossola and Valle Antrona, near a 17th-century oratory.
