The place
Rifugio di Camposecco in the Simbruini/Ernici regional nature park, on the Lazio/Abruzzo border (province of Rome/Frosinone, Italy), at 1,327 m elevation, in the central Apennine range. A CAI refuge in Rome's "green lung" (the largest regional park in Lazio, 30,000 ha). Home to beech woods, near the sources of the Aniene river (downstream of which lies Villa d'Este in Tivoli). On the Sentiero Italia trail.
