Rifugio del Fontanino (Rifugio Orazio Dèlfico)
The place
Unstaffed refuge at 1,428 m on the trail from Forca di Valle to Ara Pietra (Madonnina), in the municipality of Isola del Gran Sasso d'Italia (Abruzzo). Only three sleeping spots inside, with the possibility of pitching tents on the meadow in summer. Restored thanks to the CAI Isola del Gran Sasso section and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park, inaugurated in May 2007. Dedicated to Orazio Delfico, the first to reach the summit of Corno Grande - Cima Orientale, on July 29, 1794. Restoration has continued since 2016 by a group of friends coordinated by Michele Di Nicola.

A bit of history
Former pastoral shelter from the 1950s-1960s, restored by CAI Isola del Gran Sasso and inaugurated in May 2007. Dedicated to Orazio Delfico, the first to reach Corno Grande - Cima Orientale in 1794.
