The place

Rifugio del Falco (Falcon Refuge) in the Ernici/Simbruini mountains, Frosinone/Sora area (Lazio, Italy), at 1402 m altitude, in the central Apennine chain. Part of the continuous Ernici/Simbruini cluster (batches 241-248). A CAI refuge named after the peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), which nests on the Apennine cliffs. An area of Apennine beech forest and karstic calcareous grassland, close to the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park (PNALM), home to the Marsican brown bear.
