Rifugio Colle Montegallo tappa GAS
The place
Waypoint refuge of the Grande Anello dei Sibillini (GAS), a 124 km long-distance route in 9 stages circling the Monti Sibillini National Park (Marche/Umbria). The refuge is in the locality of Astorara, a hamlet of Montegallo at the foot of Monte Vettore (2476 m). Three modules, each with bathroom and equipped kitchen, variable number of beds for a maximum of 14 people total. Stage 6 of the GAS (Rubbiano → Colle di Montegallo): 12 km, 4 h 30 - 5 h, +850 m / -750 m, via the Sentiero dei Mietitori. Stage 7 (Colle di Montegallo → Colle Le Cese): 18.57 km, 5 h 30 - 6 h, +650 m / -190 m. Setting devastated by the 2016 earthquake but under full reconstruction.
