The place

Small refuge set in the uninhabited medieval hamlet of Ciaè, in the hills above Genoa. Capacity of 14 equipped beds. No permanent warden: the key must be requested from the municipal forest wardens to spend the night. The refuge lies on the Ciaè botanical trail, which starts from the hamlet of Ronco and reaches the hamlet of Orero (Serra Riccò) passing through the old village. The route winds through the forest with signs illustrating the tree species found: local species (chestnut, ash, oak, wild cherry) as well as flowers and shrubs. Access by car via the Bolzaneto exit of the A7 Genoa-Serravalle motorway, direction Sant'Olcese-Ronco, small parking lot at the start of the trail about 40 minutes from Genoa.
