Rifugio Chiarella Amiante

The place

Staffed refuge at 2979 m in Val d'Ollomont, Aosta Valley (Italy), Pennine Alps, run by the CAI Chiavari section. Capacity 42 beds; winter room with 15 places with mattresses and blankets. The original wooden hut, which could accommodate 20 people, was extended and paired with a masonry building. Access in about 4h30 from the Glacier car park (1549 m) or over 6 hours from the village of Ollomont; the final section follows a rocky step fitted with steel cables as a handrail before reaching the refuge's platform.
