Rifugio Cerasia
The place
Refuge located at Serro Cerasia, in the municipality of San Luca (province of Reggio Calabria), a starting point for trails in the Aspromonte National Park (Calabria, Italy). The refuge has a water spring and a long table where hikers can rest and eat before or after an excursion. Free parking nearby for those arriving by car. A key base for reaching the Cascate delle Forgiarelle — a hidden gem of Calabrian nature at about 1200 m elevation — and more broadly for routes into the wild heart of the Ionian Aspromonte: beech, chestnut and conifer forests, home to wolves and golden eagles.
