Rifugio Capreria
The place
Forest refuge at the heart of the Bosco della Ficuzza, Rocca Busambra, Bosco del Cappelliere e Gorgo del Drago Nature Reserve (province of Palermo, Sicily), established in 2000 over 7,400 hectares across the municipalities of Marineo, Monreale, Corleone, Godrano and Mezzojuso. Managed by the Sicilian Regional Forestry Corps. "Capreria" refers both to the strikingly beautiful valley and to the refuge on the track leading from the Palazzina Reale di Ficuzza to the Alpe Cucco: past the refuge, continue about 1 km to the right to enter the valley. The site is among the reserve's major points of interest, alongside the Gorgo Lungo, the Gorgo Tondo, the Pescheria del Re, the Gola del Drago, the Grotta del Romito, the Acqua Ammucciata and il Fanuso. A Mediterranean setting of sclerophyllous oak woods and relict beech forests.
