The place
Refuge at about 1033 m on the slopes of Monte Maggio (municipality of Gualdo Tadino, province of Perugia, Umbria — not Lessinia/Veneto as one might assume). A former shepherd's shelter restructured with provincial and municipal funding; owned by the municipality, managed by the Gualdo Tadino CAI section. Two levels: kitchen, large room, bathrooms with hot-water shower, two dormitories for 25 beds. Heated: also usable in winter. A stop on the Sentiero Italia (SI N10) linking Valsorda to Val di Ranco (Monte Cucco Park). Average attendance of around 1500 people per year. Open by reservation only (located at Località Valsorda).
