The place
Mountain lodge of CAI Alatri (Via dei Manni, 10 - 03011 Alatri, FR), in the Monti Ernici (Lazio, central Italy), at 1751 m. Set beneath Monte Crepacuore (1997 m), a sentinel over the southern slope of the Monti Cantari — a scenic, easily accessible summit. On trail 651 linking Campo Catino, the Fonte Pozzotello, Monte Crepacuore and Monte Viglio (2156 m), then Fonte della Moscosa and Serra Sant'Antonio (1608 m). Downhill from the end of the descent, refuge and the cool Fonte del Pozzotello (1850 m) below the head of the valley. A stage on the Sentiero Frassati of Lazio; a base for exploring the massif and for outings organised by the CAI section.
