Rifugio Barma
The place
Stone refuge at 2060 m in the Mont Mars Nature Reserve, on the border between the Biellese (Piedmont) and the Lys Valley (Aosta Valley, Italy). The handsome building is built around a glacial rock formation and stands in an amphitheater facing the lakes of Barma, at the foot of the Mont Mars massif (2600 m). From Biella, drive up via the SR 144 to the Sanctuary of Oropa, then continue via the Oropa cable car (parking). From the upper station, trail D13 "Pissa" leads past the Rifugio Savoia, then via the dirt track (D21, partly following the ski run) to the Colle Barma (2261 m), from where a beautiful trail descends to the Lago della Barma (2020 m) and the refuge.

From Oropa (cable car), trails D13 (Pissa) and D21 to the Colle Barma then descent to the Lago della Barma.
