The place

Rifugio Arcibessi in the Iblean Mountains, Ragusa/Chiaramonte Gulfi area (southeastern Sicily, Italy), at 702 m elevation, on a karst plateau. Part of the continuous Sicily cluster (batches 233-257). A forest refuge set within the "Val di Noto" heritage landscape (UNESCO 2002, late Sicilian Baroque) and the chiaramonti (Baroque villages rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake). Area of holm oaks, centuries-old olive groves producing Monti Iblei DOP oil, and carob trees.
