Ricovero Casera Roncada
The place
Casera-refuge at 1781 m in the Pramaggiore group (Friulian Dolomites, Friuli-Venezia Giulia), with striking views of the dolomitic peaks of the Spalti di Toro and the Monfalconi across the Val Cimoliana. Recently renovated. Access from Pian Meluzzo: crossing scree, then a steep forest trail; at 1573 m the trail leaves the scree and climbs the right-hand flank; after several switchbacks through the forest, near a spring, take the track on the right that climbs to the refuge. No mattresses on the wooden bunk beds: bring a sleeping mat if staying overnight. A base for the panoramic summit of Monte Ferrara and the traverse to Rifugio Pordenone.

From Pian Meluzzo via forest trail then the right-hand flank.
