The place
Restored casera at 1450 m (external sources; DB 1444 m) at the foot of the Monte Canin massif, overlooking the Val Resia (Friuli-Venezia Giulia). Rebuilt from the main building of the former Casera Canin, in the Prealpi Giulie Nature Park. Access on foot from Malga Coot in about 1 h via trail CAI 642, or from Coritis in 2 h 30 via the same trail. Welcoming building with a stove, table, benches and two upstairs rooms. Unguarded, no drinking water, but fitted with 7 beds and surrounded by a vast pasture used by transhumant herds. A true natural balcony above the Val Resia.
