The place
Well-equipped ricovero (refuge) at the southern foot of Monte Banera, in the Parco naturale delle Prealpi Giulie (municipality of Resia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia). Inaugurated in summer 2009: stove, tables, loft. Access via CAI trail 733 in 1 h 30 from the Uccea hamlet (Resia); or from Malga Coot via CAI 741-733 in about 2 h. A longer but more scenic route: from Sella Carnizza, follow the Monte Kila ridge towards Nische via CAI trails 731-733. A good base for outings to Monte Guarda, the Kila ridge and the Valle di Uccea. Improvements: a wood shed and a self-cleaning-filter rainwater collection system.
