Reuttener Hütte: An Authentic Alpine Refuge The Reuttener Hütte is an alpine hut run by the Reutte section of the Austrian Alpenverein, located in the Lechtal Alps, Tyrol, Austria. Location Altitude: 1740 m. Setting: Perched on the north ridge of the Abendspitze, above Berwang-Rinnen. Access: A self-catering hut with Alpenverein key access, partly staffed on weekends. History In 1924, the Reutte section of the DuOeAV had built a mountaineers' hut on the Raaz. By 1960 this hut was in an advanced state of disrepair, leading to its demolition and the construction of a new hut nearby. The new building was inaugurated on 30 August 1964, while a memorial was erected on the site of the old refuge (on the path to the Raazalm). Access Reachable from Berwang-Rinnen in two hours, or from Weißenbach via the Rotlechtal in four hours. Peaks The Reuttener Höhenweg trail gives access to several peaks: the Abendspitze (1964 m) in one hour, the Galtjoch (2112 m) in an hour and a half, the Vordere (2181 m) and Hintere Steinkarspitze (2215 m) in two to two and a half hours, and the Knittelkarspitze (2378 m) in three hours. The Reinberg (2004 m) is also reachable via paths from the Galtjoch in two hours. Cost and Funding Construction cost: Not specified. Funding: Not specified.
