Remschnigg Almhütte
The place
Idyllic alpine hut in the wine-growing region of Südsteiermark (South Styria, Austria), municipality of Leutschach an der Weinstraße, at around 1100 m altitude on the summit of the Remschnigg — the southernmost alm (alpine pasture) in Styria, within earshot of the Slovenian border (Štajerska). A welcoming hut right on the hiking trail, where Heidi and Toni serve snacks and cold drinks. Panoramic views over South Styria and Slovenian Styria. Open from April to October. Regional specialities: bacon, cheese and homemade bread. Hiking through dense forests and wide meadows in summer; ideal for snowshoeing in winter.
