The place

Self-service DNT hytte located at 1340 m in Stroplsjødalen on Dovrefjell, run by DNT Oslo og Omegn. Thirty-four beds: fifteen bookable in advance, nineteen on a first-come basis. Facilities: solar power, wood heating, gas cooking, provisions store. Meal preparation, fetching water and housekeeping are the guests' responsibility. A sleeping bag liner or personal bedding is required for overnight stays. Payment for nights and provisions is made via the DNT app or a payment slip left in the safe (a 50 NOK surcharge applies for paper slips). Dogs are not allowed in the living areas; a separate kennel is available. Important notice: Reinheim is closed from 23 August to 28 February 2027 to protect wild reindeer during the calving season on Dovrefjell. Until 23 August 2026, access is from Kongsvold Fjeldstue or Grønbakken, taking 4 h 30 to 5 h. After that date, the Kongsvold-Reinheim route is dismantled: go via Snøheim with a shuttle from Hjerkinn.
