The place
Refugio de Talveila in the Sierra de Cabrejas/Picos de Urbión, Soria province (Castile and León, Spain), at 1,093 m elevation, on the central Sistema Ibérico plateau. Unstaffed free refugio on the GR-86 Sendero Ibérico Soriano route, near the archaeological site of Numancia (heroic Celtiberian resistance to Rome, 133 BC). Home to Scots pine, Pyrenean oak and Spanish juniper (Juniperus thurifera).
