Refugio Pico Banderillas
The place
Unstaffed refuge located on the Cuerda de las Banderillas, just below the summit of the Pico Banderillas (1993 m), the highest point of the Sierra de Segura within the Parque Natural de las Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas (Jaén, Andalusia). The modern building was preceded by an old forest fire lookout post and appears on older maps (up to the 2000s) as a casetilla forestal. Equipped with bunks, a fireplace and a table, open access. The easiest and quickest approach is via the Caña de Pinar Negro, a wide forest track southeast of the ridge. Another route runs from the Río Borosa fish farm via the Collado de Roblehondo and the Tranco del Perro. Ideal for splitting the ascent over two days with a night on the ridge.
Getting there
Caña de Pinar Negro (wide SE track) or from the Río Borosa fish farm via Collado de Roblehondo and Tranco del Perro.
