The place
Free refuge on the Segovia side of the Sierra de Guadarrama (Castile and León, Spain), on the north face of the Peña del Águila, near the Tejo reservoir. Relatively easy access via forest track from the La Panera recreational area: heading north, take the track that climbs to Cerro de las Campanillas, go around it to the south and climb back north; after about 6.5 km, you reach the refuge. Fifth refuge on the "Ruta de los Refugios del Río Moros": an easy 19 km route that passes a total of six refuges along the Moros river. No warden, minimal equipment.
