The place
Free refuge set on the Raso de La Atalayuela, a vast high plateau on the Segovia ridge of the Sierra de Guadarrama (Sierra de Guadarrama National Park), above Collado Hermoso. The site is marked by the great classic loop Collado Hermoso - Majadilla del Queso - Raso de la Atalayuela - Collado Hermoso, among the most popular pinewood routes on the north side. The network of free refuges of the Río Moros, of which La Atalayuela is part, consists of small shelters of pastoral origin or inherited from the former ICONA, free and open. A setting of Pinus sylvestris pine forests and summit meadows typical of the Segovia side of the Guadarrama.

From Collado Hermoso (Segovia) via the Majadilla del Queso - Raso de la Atalayuela loop. Part of the Río Moros network of free refuges.
