The place
Small refuge for anglers and hikers on the shore of the Laguna Larga, one of the main glacial lakes of the Sierra de la Demanda and the Parque Natural Lagunas Glaciares de Neila (province of Burgos, Spain). Sitting at 1895 m, the Laguna Larga, with its very dark waters, shares with the Laguna Negra the most contemplative character of the lake complex, listed on the Catálogo Regional de Zonas Húmedas de Especial Interés. The refuge is one of the free shelters of the natural park, a legacy of ICONA-era construction, serving as a stop on the loop routes between Muñalba, Patos, Brava, Larga, Corta and Negra. An exceptional setting of glacial cirques between the Urbión peaks and the Sierra de la Demanda.
Getting there
Approach from Neila via the Lagunas loop. A stage between Laguna Brava and Laguna Negra.
