Refugio forestal «Casa del Cura»
The place
Free forest refuge on the PR-CU 105 “Casa del Cura” trail in the Serranía de Cuenca Natural Park, reached from the village of Valdemeca next to the visitor center. The building occupies the restored remains of a former oven and the “Casa del Cura” in the abandoned settlement of the same name — one of the vanished summer-pasture hamlets of the high Serranía, like La Nava or El Rincón de Palacios. A refuge in good condition, unlike several other forest shelters in the area that have fallen into disrepair. The route crosses dense pine forests before opening onto a green valley; on the way back to Valdemeca, you'll pass the limestone cliffs of the Cordilleras and, with a short detour, the Cascada del Gollizno and the panoramic view from the Centenar lookout.
Getting there
From Valdemeca via the PR-CU 105 (Casa del Cura trail). Visitor center at the trailhead.
