Refugio del Collado de Urdiceto
The place
Small unstaffed refuge at the Puerto del Paso de los Caballos (or Collado de Urdiceto), right on the route of the GR11 between the Gistaín and Parzán valleys, in the municipality of Gistaín in the province of Huesca (Aragonese Pyrenees). Building in good exterior condition but very basic inside: a wooden sleeping platform with no mattress, minimal equipment. With or without a door depending on the season. Mainly serves as an emergency shelter in bad weather on the GR11, or as a fallback option if the nearby Refugio del Lago de Urdiceto (less than 1 km away, much better maintained after renovation) is full. Well positioned for climbing the Punta Suelza and as a stopgap stage on the traverse of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
