Refugio del Lanchón
The place
A small unstaffed refuge at 1717 m in the Garganta de Bohoyo, on the northern slope of the Sierra de Gredos (province of Ávila, Spain). It is the fourth shelter encountered heading up the valley from the village of Bohoyo on the PR-AV 16, after La Secá, La Redonda and La Longuilla, before the last stop, El Belesar. A very modest but well-kept building: a wooden sleeping platform and a small fireplace, with a drinking water source nearby. All the shelters on the PR-AV 16 are in good condition and allow for a comfortable bivouac. From the Bohoyo car park, about 3 h 05 walk to reach El Lanchón. A typical glacial garganta setting of bare rock, waterfalls, large granite boulders and high meadows.
Getting there
