Refugio del Frade

The place

Unmanned refuge at 1698 m in the majada below the Collado del Frade, in the Picos de Europa (León, Castile and León, Spain), between the staffed Refugio Guardado de Vegabaño and the Moledizos barrier. Fireplace, shuttered windows, table and bench, sleeping loft upstairs. Fresh water fountain near the entrance. Capacity 18 places. No warden on site, no reservation. Classic access from Soto de Sajambre via the PR 9.
