Refugio de Santa Marina
The place
Unstaffed refuge in the municipality of Triollo (province of Palencia), at the heart of the Valle de Pineda, a glacial valley forming the head of the río Carrión, near the confluence with the arroyo de Arauz. The building has two levels: ground floor with fireplace, table and chairs, upper floor with sleeping space for around eight people. Drinking water, fireplace and table available, freely open without a key — easy access for all hikers. A strategic position within the Parque Natural Fuentes Carrionas y Fuente Cobre, at the crossroads of routes to the Pico Curavacas, the Espigüete and the Pozo Curavacas. A Roman archaeological site was discovered right next to the refuge in the Pineda area.
