Refugio de la Peña Cítores

The place

Small open-access refuge at 2058 m on a spur west of the Peña Cítores summit, in the Peñalara massif (Sierra de Guadarrama, Segovia province, Real Sitio de San Ildefonso, Spain). Very cramped structure with room for about two people — no beds, just enough space to lay out sleeping bags. Given its proximity to the Puerto de Cotos (under an hour's walk), it mainly serves as an emergency shelter in case of storms or sudden weather changes. No facilities, unstaffed.
