Refugio de la Fuente de las Tobas
The place
Free refuge located in the Fuente de las Tobas recreational area, in the municipality of Peñalén within the Alto Tajo Natural Park (Guadalajara province, Castile-La Mancha). The building has a fireplace and four separate rooms, with stone tables and direct access to the Tajo river for washing. An important stage of the GR-10 long-distance trail (stages 2 and 3 toward Villar de Cobeta) and the GR-113 through this stretch of the Alto Tajo. Approach from Peralejos de las Truchas via the Altos de Peñalén and the Estrechos, running parallel to the river. Free, unstaffed refuge, but located at the bottom of a tree-lined canyon that receives almost no direct light — worth keeping in mind for winter overnight stays.

Stage of the GR-10 between Peralejos de las Truchas and Villar de Cobeta. Approach parallel to the Tajo via Altos de Peñalén and Estrechos.
